Now Filling the United State's Plates

Issues that should be in the news, instead of Russia-Gate
Some thoughts about important issues, these I hope people are thinking about.  This is a major bridge to cross, thinking.

Support for medicare for all, similar to what Europeans have.

Negotiation of drug prices, similar to what Europeans have.

Corporations pay no taxes, why not get rid of the loopholes?

Super massive increases in military spending
Continuation of wars.  What have we gained?
Cease the building of a huge drone base in Africa costing billions of dollars
No funding for formation of military in space.  We already have lasers that can shoot down any satellite in space.

Stop slashing of medicare and social security while giving the rich big tax breaks and the pentagon a huge raise

Stop funding military regimes around the world

Stop all support for more fracking, we cannot waste clean water for future generations

Condemn Israel's shooting Palestinian demonstrators throwing rocks and rolling tires at the fence protecting Israeli soldiers at the border

Climate change is real

Jailing of children at border when people arrive to ask for asylum

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' wealth has increased by $260 million every single day in 2018. Meanwhile, Amazon workers have to rely on food stamps and public assistance just to survive.  Taxpayers then have to support employees eligible for foodstamps

Close private prisons with slave wages for prisoners

Why do the Democrats support huge tax cuts for the rich?

Who are the donors for the politicians and how much is the funding?
Stop allowing lobbyists, etc. to fund politician’s campaigns by changing the law

Light A Fire
If your politician is not discussing these issues, it is time to challenge them.  Now is the time to speak up.

More Things Italian

All Things Italian This morning in my coffee bar, I spent a few hours on an art project and did my usual people watching. 7 Men came in for a coffee, and 8 women of which half were a group on over 80’s who meet twice a week there. Only one of the men was retirement age, he is a regular who speaks loudly in Veneto to the barista. She always speaks loudly, so they get along fine. I don’t know what it is about baristas, they must have a hearing problem as they are almost yelling at the customers, greeting them with a buongiorno and then asking them which type of brioche they want, and then running through the whole list of what is inside the brioches. One can find chocolate, cream, vuoto (empty), pistacchio (pronounced Kee, not chee) nutty, and more. One other thing about all baristas, they all love to make noise when putting the coffee cups and saucers in the sink. I think that they must be cymbal players in the local town band. When I first went into the bar, my phone told me i...

This Fantastic Weekend In Venice

Caped Crusaders of Folk Music This weekend we were rewarded by hearing some old Italian musicians squeezing their accordions and playing some Veneto  folk tunes.  We watched as these two accordionists, old geezers my age, were accompanied by a  large group of blacked caped men, some in masks,  belting out song after song as they strolled along the calli (street in Venice).  Their folk tunes seemed to be  known to many bystanders who then proceeded to join in with the capesters.    cymbals adds some rhythm Decked out in long black capes, called tabarros, the group centered itself in the middle of the Campo San Bartolomeo (Venetian piazzas are called campos).  Singing with gestures of hands in the air, and some smiling like a prankster, they proceeded to entertain themselves and everyone else.  There were several guitarists amidst the  singers and one fellow with a face of concentration playing a drum which made me thi...

Christmas Markets This Year

A Short Question Remains to Be Answered Christmas Market Time Nuremburg                                          But first a few short words..... Once in awhile there is a huge amount of readers of this blog from Russia.  Today I had 44 readers and the day isn’t over.  This makes me curious, of course.  Are there people wanting to know about Italian life?  Maybe it was the title, Dave the Mad Bomber.  I once received a huge amount of Russian readers when I wrote a title which had the word Putin in it.   Nuremburg Christmas Market More Crowded at Night Maybe I will never know the answer, but I am hoping  that some of them will take the time to make a comment at the bottom of the blog post.  I also would like to know a little about my two faithful French readers.  So, I am coaxing you to take a few minutes and writ...
